Although the traditional sideboards are in fact a fairly recent origin furnishings, we can consider along with the dresser as direct descendants of caissons decorated with which were once decorated the rooms and noble king. These furnishings, which gave birth to the classic sideboards as soon as the need to organize complex are still the passion of collectors and enthusiasts of classic furnishings and antiques from around the world, often constituting real works ‘art in every sense.

Models and styles of classical sideboards

Exactly this direct derivation of the classical sideboards by caissons used in previous centuries allows to bring back the features faithfully in the new “more stable form”, associating them uniquely to the great historical styles such as the Louis XV, Louis XVI or the Beetles. The latter, in particular, takes its name from a large Italian cabinetmaker known throughout Europe in past centuries for its unmatched skill as a carver: expert combinations of valuable types of wood in his hands gave birth to real masterpieces that have fascinated nobility and rulers, making his name a legend in all the European courts. Not for nothing one of the most popular operations today for the traditional beliefs is precisely the inlay, also favored by the great free plans, whether the upper or doors that close the inner rooms, featuring the classic beliefs unlike other pieces furnishing.
The inlays will then accompany equally rich carvings that are not limited to decorate the classic sideboards themselves, but they become the protagonists in the creation of any mirror decided to combine efforts: columns, vegetable garlands, geometric or floral patterns, totally handmade. It is thus follow each other without solution of continuity.

The chinoiserie, classical sideboards oriental flavor

A particular type of traditional sideboards, on which it pays to stop and linger, are so-called “chinoiserie”, in other words that particular stylethat was born within the Louis XVI and resulting from the fascination that exotic places such as precisely the east and particularly China exerted on nobles and kings of the time. That is why the classical sideboards that refer to this period can dress refined and shiny black lacquer – technical beloved in the East and characteristic of those places – embellished with beautiful decorations made by hand that tell of distant worlds and dreamy, including exotic buildings, bamboo canes and characters from facial orientalfeatures. Notable in these classical sideboards is the use of gold that gives more light to the composition.
