Lacquered classic library in chinese style
art. 91
Lacquered classic library realized in the chinese style in vogue in the european courts during the Eighteenth Century, at full period Luigi XV. It’s in this century that the Europe discovers the most refined artistic chinese productions and falls in love of them, giving life to a series of furnishings of high craftsmanship, inspired to an idealized China and by the strong exotic mark.
It’s a very beautiful example this black lacquered classic library, the majesty of which is underlined by its lateral columns of classic mark, but at the same time of oriental taste thanks to the contrast between the black lacquering and the rich details in gold leaf: the gilding is then protagonist also for the high band, an ornament enriched by carvings of oriental theme.
Typical of the chinese inspiration art are then the decoration of the lower panels: made by hand by Italian artisans, depict fantastic oriental landscapes and exotic animals, realized in subtle pastel colours.
To note, next to the lacquered classic library, the carved coffee table completely finished in gold leaf, on which is placed the lacquered lamp, also of the Chinoiserie collection, with floral decorations made by hand.
